ReefPedia was created to give reefkeeping hobbyists a centralized location to share information in the form of a reef aquarium encyclopedia. The goal is to cover all available knowledge in an easy-to-find, free, and accurate manner.

Every day, thousands of reef aquarium hobbyists are on the Internet. Browsing, shopping, sharing their experiences in forums, reading articles, searching, asking questions. The spirit of collaboration is already there. We work together as hobbyists, and that's something to be proud of.

Well, this site represents the ability to collaborate like never before. An open medium for hobbyists of all types, and levels of experience, to share their knowledge in a real and meaningful way. We are all writers, we are all editors, and in many ways, we are all moderators in the world of ReefPedia. By acting as a whole, we can create something truly special. A resource of immeasurable value, a work worthy of immense pride, and a legacy for those entering the hobby.

The Challenge of Innovation

A site of this type has never been done in the history of reefkeeping. That shouldn't scare you away. Editing the article of your choice can be as simple as clicking on the word "edit" and contributing your knowledge.

It's true that there are advanced editing controls, and you may come across some of them. If you're not comfortable, just ignore them and type in the information. We have folks who can make it pretty later.
