Behavior
Excellent cleaners, the trochus snails mainly stick to the glass of the reef aquarium devouring diatom algae. However, it is not uncommon for them to clean the rockwork as well. As far as algae-eating snails go, it's tough to compete with the performance and hardiness of the trochus snail.
Feeding
Feeds on algae, primarily diatom algae on the glass of reef aquaria.
Breeding
Trochus snails readily breed in captivity, and their young can be seen in the rockwork and overflows of many tanks housing several trochus snails. However, few seem to grow to adult size.

Additional Notes
The trochus snail is often more expensive than its counterparts- $3 per snail is not uncommon locally. However, the return on investment in these snails is significant. They are hardy, excellent cleaners with a predisposition to reproduce even in reef aquaria. They are long-lived and much-appreciated additions to any reef tank.
