Six-Line Wrasse

Scientific Name Pseudocheilinus hexataenia

Max. Size: 3" or 10 cm.

Tank Size: Minimum tank size: 10 gallon

Aggression: Peaceful to Mildly aggressive; might change as it matures

Hardiness: Fairly hardy and disease resistent

Reef-Safe: Will make a great addition to mini-reefs as well as FOWLR (Fish only with live rock) aquariums

Available as captive-bred: Can be purchased as Captive - bred or Wild- caught

Physical Description

The Six-Line Wrasse is a small fish that has a blue and purple body with a green tail, orange head, and six orange lines horizontally running across its body.

Behavior

Will bury themselves in the sand when sleeping or frightened.

Feeding

Feeds on worms, small crustaceans and other similar micro fauna. Usually can find an extensive "buffet" in reef aquaria, but will readily accept many food supplements such as flakes, pellets, frozen foods.

Because of its feeding habits, it is useful as a natural control mechanism for flat worms and bristle worms.
