Taxonomic Stuff you know you Care About
(ADD HERE)
- Genus: Thor
- Species: Thor amboinensis
Behavior
These little guys are very entertaining. When they move, their "tails" wave back and forth as if they were dancing. This is where the "Sexy Shrimp" name came from. They are model citizens in a species tank.
Feeding
They enjoy meaty foods such as Krill and Mysis Shrimp. They also eat algae and detritus.

Social Structure
Sexy Shrimp seem to live well together in groups of odd numbers (ie, 3 or 6, etc).
Additional Notes
Sexy shrimp are by far one of the most entertaining shrimp. They have been known to form relationships with anemones in the wild. Unfortunately, it is not a good idea to have an anemone in a small tank specifically set-up for "Sexy's". I have seen them bonding with Ricordea, and Mushrooms as well. Care should be taken to prevent these tiny little creatures from being sucked into powerheads and filter intakes. Mesh seems to work well to keep that from happening.
The relationships they form in the wild with anemones can be detrimental to some LPS in captivity specifically small Torch Corals as they many times cannot tolerate the Sexy Shrimp's attempt to host them.
