Taxonomic Stuff you know you Care About

  • Genus: Octopus
  • Species: O. bimaculoidesis

Behavior

They can be very socially attached to their owner/person who feeds them. They can be trained to do trick (taking a crab out of a closed jar ect.) and can be very intelligent.

Feeding

They eat crabs, shrimp, snails and some fish and may eventually accept frozen items (see above food items).

Breeding

Oviparous; lays only one clutch of eggs in a lifetime.

Social Structure

It is a loner unless mating.

Additional Notes

Due to inking, a good protein skimmer needs to be in place. They are escape artists and can fit through any space that their beak can fit through. They require a mature, species-only tank with heavy filtration.
