Distribution

Caribbean

Taxonomic Stuff

  • Family:Pomacanthidae
  • Genus: Centropyge
  • Species: argi

Behavior

An active fish that will swim at all levels in the tank. Lots of caves and hiding places will be appreciated as these fish like to swim in and out of the rockwork.

Feeding

They are omnivorous browsers that feed mostly on algae but also eat meaty foods too. They feed all day by taking little nips at LR. They will also nip at corals and clams but don't usually do any damage. The tank should have some patches of hair (filamentous) algae. Provide algae supplements as well as meaty foods like mysis shrimp, fish mush, cyclopeeze, brine shrimp etc. Prepared foods made for angelfish are good too.

Breeding

They are known to breed in captivity.

Social Structure

Keep only one male per tank. Pairs or trios may be kept in larger tanks.
